The future is always uncertain. Weather changes. Economic cycles are unpredictable. Disasters, accidents, and illness can change life quickly. These actions are largely beyond our control. But there are some things we can control, including how we spend our time each day…Yes, we should learn from the past, and yes, we should prepare for the future. But only now can we do. Now is the time we can learn.

Self Reliance Group Workshops
One tool for personal development is participation in self-reliance groups. Self-reliance groups combine practical skills with spiritual principles to help people help themselves. The church provides workshop materials in the following areas: "Finding Strength in the Lord: Emotional Resilience", "Personal Finances for Self-Reliance", Starting and Growing My Business for Self-Reliance", "Find a Better Job for Self-Reliance", "Education for Better Work for Self-Reliance", and "My Foundation for Self-Reliance."
While self-reliance skill development can be done individually, it is much more efficient when done as a group. If interested in participating in a group, please contact your Elders Quorum or Relief Society president. He/she will work with the stake self-reliance specialists to create a group and provide a facilitator.
Digital copies of the self-reliance manuals are available through Gospel Library / Books and Lessons / Self-Reliance Resources.
